Do I have to bring a partner?
NO - you do not have to bring a partner. We rotate everybody in the classes so we all have turns in dancing with partners. What if I have two left feet? Nobody could have been worse than some of us when we first started dancing. If you stick with the classes and make sure you practice, you WILL develop coordination and confidence and in a short time, you will be up and dancing. |
Do I need special clothing?
The best clothing to wear is comfortable clothing and allows you to move freely. As you will warm up whilst dancing, something not too hot is the best. How long does it take to learn? Some professional dancers and instructors have been dancing all their lives but don't be discouraged. A 6-week course will teach you enough basic steps to have fun and dance socially. |
Do I need special shoes?
You don't need special dancing shoes, but you do need comfortable shoes. Preferably closed at the back. As well as shoes with a sole that allows you to turn easily on the dance floor, but not too slippery. We sell special dance socks ($15) for over shoes, if you don't have suitable shoes, and they last a long time, so don't go out and buy new shoes. |
Tips & Hints
If you are asked to dance... accept;
unless you really have run out of energy or need a rest.
Don't dance continuously with one partner; mix it up,
you might like to ask someone else as we all want to have a dance…
You can always get back to that person later!

Gentlemen
For the gentlemen who perspire a lot, it is a good idea to take some deodorant a clean shirt with you to get changed into during the night, so you feel fresher. |
Ladies
For the ladies, be mindful of your dress wear. With a shoulderless top the leaders are putting their hands on sweaty bare skin, just think..... would you like to do that yourself? |
